Antibiotic resistance has remained a topic of concern, and most current treatments prioritize preventing infections from antibiotic resistant pathogens. Hence, finding new antimicrobial compounds to suppress or rid of pathogens is still of importance. To find novel antimicrobial compounds for treating patients, herbal extracts were examined for antimicrobial properties on DH5α Escheria coli. This study focused on examining methanol extracts containing Paeonia lactiflora Pall (radix paeoniae) for its effects on E. coli. DH5α E. coli was studied due to experience working with bacteria and future plans to transform bacteria with resistance genes.
