Malnutrition Screening and Treatment in Pediatric Oncology: A systematic review
Creador:
Runco, D.V., Bishop, Chris, and Franke, Jessica
Descripción:
Pediatric cancer is the leading cause of non-accidental childhood death in the United States[34]. 80% of children experience malnutrition during cancer treatment[34]. Malnutrition effects with cancer treatment: increases toxicities (neuropathy, infections, physical function, quality of life)[10]. Exacerbates dietary and metabolic changes[5,30]. Malnutrition is variable in diagnosis and interventions. Standard screening and treatment are not widely agreed upon in pediatrics[25]. Adult cancer cachexia is more studied and standardized [29]. Nutritional needs are more static in adults, while protein and caloric needs change and evolve for the growing child [4]. This systematic review aims to: summarize evidence-based studies of screening and nutritional intervention for children with cancer; highlight the need for standardizing malnutrition assessment and treatment.

This presentation will demonstrate the process of implementing an open test bank project in Psychology and Counseling courses, examine our data, and provide suggestions for others interested in starting similar projects. Our project used student-generated assessments in authentic classroom use, and then evaluated their impact using quantitative and qualitative measures before making them available to the wider open educational community as ancillary materials for the open textbook being used. We will present comparison data for test and course grades for students that used traditionally-created test questions in their course versus the students who created questions throughout the semester and then were assessed using those test questions. We will also present the results of our survey and focus group data to provide student perceptions of open test bank creation and its impact on their learning. Ultimately, this data will provide suggestions for how future instructors can utilize similar practices to collaboratively create effective assessment materials with students. The presentation will conclude with recommendations for others looking to embark on an open test bank project at their institution.
Real Challenges to Virtual Reality: Realizing Your Collection Through Digital Partnership

Descripción:
This article discusses the collaborative digitization effort between librarians at Marian College (now Marian University) and Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) to create a deliverable online collection of an oversized student newspaper (the Phoenix) using CONTENTdm software. The partnership provided mutual benefits for each institution. While Marian received an online collection, IUPUI used the digitization as an opportunity to house the collection as a digital sandbox for its School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) students. Other technological benefits came from the project, including experimentation with migration of collection from IUPUI servers to the PALNI (Private Academic Library Network of Indiana) consortium servers. A five minute "lightning talk" for an application to correlate LC Classification Outline classes with their respective call numbers, with the goal of the project make Library of Congress call numbers more searchable/discoverable for the library end-user. Code can be found directly from GitHub as well as incorporated into LibGuides, etc. Presented at the 2016 LITA Forum.

They Might Pop-In: Instruction and Workshops for Faculty Only
Creador:

Descripción:
During the spring semester, we designed faculty-only workshops each week that they could "pop-in" for instruction on library resources, research or citation support, and at least one "freebie" resource. These included infographic and media creation, copyright-free images, video design, and apps they could use in teaching, assessment, or marketing. Through these sessions, we built relationships with faculty that transferred to additional requests for instruction, materials, and research support, and building their own information literacy skills.
